Liger Movie Review – Everything That Made Liger A Box-Office Failure

Liger Movie is a sports drama Movie that got a Pan-India release on 25 August 2022 with a ginormous marketing strength with the strong image and appearance of boxing legend icon, Mike Tyson. The expectations were relatively high with the Arjun Reddy actor, Vijay Deverakonda, which also sometimes got shattered because of the minute yet the exotic presence of Ananya Panday. Movie lovers from all around the globe are thought to be optimistic and that is why no actor goes down by doing just one hapless movie (except for some exceptional reasons). Her acting track started from the pompous and vague story plots of ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, and Anaya Panday’s fustian character writing and the nada acting skills made a cold impression on Box-Office. She did a couple of Bollywood movies, but it seems like she is not gaining any experience. It’s again and again, the same horror movie for the audiences and asinine presence of hers throughout the movie, without any achievement or much meaning.

2022s Liger Movie is conveying the same horror picturization with South Indian movies’ usual formula – always angry and a macho male, shallow female character, a tornadic mother, a lot of bullies and chemical X!!!

Well, does this ring a bell? Bahubali – for a tornadic mother? Kabir Singh or Arjun Reddy – for an angry young man? Pushpa or RRR – for shallow and just mere ornamental female characters? Yes, this happened again in 2022 with a mixture of everything sad and got trolled in the past. It’s gravely upsetting that Indian Bollywood directors are so much in love with money that they dismiss ‘to learn from the past’ from their minds. We all love money, but passion is something you don’t dare to play with shit.

Proof That Legendary Characters Can Become Tinker’s Dam

“Good actors sometimes make bad decisions. They mess up, they get confused & sometimes they let their best men down. But that doesn’t make them bad actors but proves that they are just humans.”

Ramya Krishnan in Bahubali: The Begining

Ramya Krishnan is unforgettable for her legendary role in Bahubali. But, what if the same fierce character she plays again and again in every story, without even the need for it? Yes, the bold character will lose its Midas touch. And this is what happened when she played Balamani as Shivagami in Liger. The opprobrious dialogues by her throughout the movie made it much worse than just bad. Let’s recall some of them:

“Abe saale, chal uth na…”

“Girls are like witches; they just deviate you (men) from achieving your goals and then also leave you…”

“Your parents should be beaten badly as they have raised a girl like you (Ananya)…”

“A girl who dresses in short skirts and midis and apply makeup, are all witches…”

Well, the rant from my heart will definitely go on and on as it is such a waste of such a strong personality in this fuss.

What can I say? Ramya Krishnan is still battling with the hangover of Bahubali reeling.

Smooth Loopholes That lead To The Ultimate Movie’s Demise

It was not just about the same acting from Shivagami and Arjun Reddy but also because of the extremely lack of plotlines, the film, Liger even couldn’t manage to attract insane South Indian action fans here. Let’s see what them are:

Liger Movie
  • People from Banaras are received as calm and philanthropic in nature in all over India and the concept of such artificial hybrid species should be quite alien to them. But still, the parents managed to choose the name – Liger, for their son.
  • Instead of the fact that Liger lost his father at a very age, he managed to learn MMA but couldn’t complete his studies.
  • Liger is shown as an extremely well-trained martial artist whereas the already trained persons are failing near him.
  • Liger’s mother had the audacity and extremely optimism to come to Mumbai all the way from Banaras to set up a tea stall and enrol his son in the most sought MMA institute in Mumbai with a strong intention to pay zero pennies.
  • The mother of Liger, Balamani could have brought her son to Mumbai at a young age to enrol her in the institute but somehow decided to wait till his being 30+.
  • Ananya JUST falls in love with Liger out of nowhere. Why?
  • At the end of the movie, Vijay Deverakonda revealed that ‘I have to avenge my father’s death’ was a mere prop to fuel his anger to beat his opponent. He was nowhere on the scene. So…were those bombastic dialogues by his mother to the coach all fake?

Do comment when you find a tail or head of the story! You can also comment if you are big fan of the animal – Liger.

Are Females Always A Damsel In Distress?

The misogynistic play with a dash of macho sport-ism of Liger Movie is projected through the lens of a celebrated director from South India – Puri Jagannadh is nothing but a mess, lack of good direction, acting, articulated storyline and basic morals (that you ought to have in this century).

The film started by stating women are mere toys created by God in a man’s life. Has nobody questioned the writer after reading the script – what’s the gist, physicist?

The anti-women dialogues are deeply stuffed into it and recently it has also been noticed by some really good ears that the song ‘Aafat’ has rape scene dialogues.

Apart from the male protagonist, it is the strong female character, Liger’s mother, Balamani also gave quite a tirade on how attractive women are witches, aimless and their only motto is to deviate men from their paths. Slow claps!

Ananya Panday’s character is like every other Karan Johar’s Student of the Year girl. Oh, she was there!

Well, Tanya aka our Ananya Panday is an influencer in Liger Movie but the only social media marketing words that she knows are hashtags, captions, and bio!!! Just FYI, Ananya Panday has 23.6 Million followers on Instagram and 10 Million on Facebook. Puri Jagannadh along with his troop could’ve just spent a little time with Ananya’s marketing team; they could’ve made the dialogue much better and of course, PRACTICAL.

Mike Tyson’s Cameo Couldn’t Save Liger

Global boxing icon – Mike Tyson’s cameo was short, funny, impractical, and completely an amateur directorial shot, which lasted for 10 minutes and 55 seconds to be exact. He was roped in to present in this video or movie and this must be the reason he forgot about his acting in a Bollywood movie – Liger.

Well, that forgettable movie – Liger Movie paid Mike Tyson a whopping 23 crores as his fee. The payment is approx. 2.8 Million USD. Mike Tyson’s 0% regard and Liger’s performance on Box-Office can be termed as a huge waste of money.

Verdict On Liger

The movie – Liger has no sensible remark, thoughtful storyline and original bone in it, which is why it lost its frame within a few minutes. The action scenes in the film felt like they were set and shot in a rush without a dash of practicality. There was no newness in the character of Ramya Krishnan and our Telugu star Arjun Reddy aka Vijay Deverakonda. Ananya Panday’s role was just to be a showpiece on a closed shelf, which could have been nurtured. Pretty face with no brain is not a very intelligible formula to hit a plotless movie.

The concrete want of establishment the thought that women are usually jobless or purposeless beings, always in need of male saviours, usually distract the opposite sex, love to gossip around and being patronized, can be seen throughout the movie. Liger’s baffling display of misogyny failed Bollywood’s slow but gradual rise to being artistic and dernier-cri in cinematic plex.

  • Fun Fact: Did you know that most of the Ligers (a hybrid of tiger and lion) are sterile?
